New Wines of Ancient Thrace continues its promotional campaign with a series of seminars in Houston
Bulgarian Wine Export Association is launching a series of seminars in Houston, which ranks on the 4th place for wine consumption in the US. The events will attract importers, top distributors, some of the most important national retailers, media, representatives of large supermarket chains, restaurant owners and wine professionals and amateurs.
New Wines of Ancient Thrace is a promotional campaign of the Bulgarian Wine Export Association (BWEA), established in 2012 with the main objective active presentation of wines with Protected Geographical Indication and Protected designation of origin and varietal wines in new strategic markets. The main activities of the association is the promotion of wine, organizing wine conferences, workshops and seminars for promotional and informational purposes, support for increasing exports of wine through the creation and management of projects financed from EU funds.
"This is our third participation in the US and we believe that we will do good business," said Galina Niforou, chairman of BAIV, days before the start of the campaign. "The quality of our wines has never been so high; we have all the necessary resources to be competitive in these markets - excellent quality, good price / quality ratio, interesting new to consumers local varieties, excellent modern look and especially strong motivated winemakers who seek to produce ever better wines year after year".
Each of the 5 regions will be presented:
Thracian valley
The area includes the central part of the valley, as well as parts of the Sakar Mountains. It is characterized by moderate continental climate and favorable precipitation distribution. Some of the most typical wines of this region include Mavrud, Rubin, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pamid.
Valley of the Roses
The area is located between Stara Planina and Sredna gora and it produces predominantly white dry wines. The Rose Valley is the birthplace of Red Misket. It is a white grape variety with a pink skin, which produces aromatic white wines similar to those of the Muscat family. Among the most famous varieties of grapes in this area are Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling.
Danubian Plain
This area covers the southern banks of the Danube and is characterized by temperate continental climate, hot summer and sunny days. Commonly grown vine varieties in this area are Merlot, Pamid, Cabernet Sauvignon, Gamza, and Muscat Ottonel.
Black Sea Region
by the Black Sea, this region is characterize by mild autumn which makes it suitable for the cultivation of white wines with strong concentration of sugar. Dimyat, Muscat Ottoneli and Sauvignon Blanc are among the most commonly cultivated vines in this region.
Struma River Valley
This region includes the valley of the River Struma and is part of the historical Region of Macedonia. The climate typical of this region is Mediterranean with mild, rainy winter and hot summer. Typical grape varieties which are commonly cultivated in this region include Melnik, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
